So, by now we all know about this guy who shot up his daughter’s laptop because she railed against her parents on Facebook. She thought her parents would never find the post. I thought I’d share something I discovered which would make this situation all the more hilarious.
I don’t necessarily agree that this over-the-top father who’s portrayed as a Saint by the trending millions of people should win every “Dad of the Year” award to be had, but I do have to say the level of idiocy out of this girl is mind boggling. It’s astonishing to consider she thought she could slip something past her FACEBOOK NINJA FATHER who’s other Youtube work includes POSTING FACEBOOK TUTORIALS (Of which, I found one to be particularly helpful).
Here’s what I take away from this video….
1) Bad Behavior is Taught.
“My overboard teenager went on a tirade. This is how I reacted; I shot her laptop full of hallow-tipped bullets (that apparently cost $1 a piece. Hey, wait a second. That’s cheaper than fireworks! And more fun in most instances).” I wonder where Hannah learned this behavior from? Your daughter goes off the reservation and your reaction is to one-up her efforts? First of all, that laptop would’ve made a great gift to a non-profit, charity, or heck… even the kid down the street for that matter…. Secondly, how is this to teach your daughter any other lesson than “to really drive home your point, you should go to the furthest extreme and involve a firearm if at all possible” ??
2) Pride comes before a fall.
This girl thought she’d get away with hiding something from her father who’s an IT/Facebook badass. The arrogance coming off this kid’s rant is literally tangible. You could probably cut it with a knife (or shoot it full of holes.)
3) Don’t cross a man with an impressive arsenal.
From viewing his previous Youtube videos (excluding those demonstrating awesome social networking skills), I have enough evidence to conclude this guy could very well be a one man militia. I can’t believe Hannah ever thought to cross him. Assault rifles, hallow tip ammo demonstrations, crazy cowboy-slash-crooked-aussie hybrid hats… He’s basically the Average Joe version of Ted Nugent (minus the awesome facial hair, slick reality tv show, and ridiculous case of cat scratch fever.) Personally, I figured he would have put the Fear of God in her by now. I mean, all it took for me was to see my grandma weild her large wooden kitchen spoon and my knees would tremble. This guy has more firepower than 3 of the 4 Die Hard villians, and she still has the guts to post a rant like this? That’s impressive AND severely insane at the same time.
4) Everyone likes a gun show.
11 Million Views, 140 Thousand Likes… Reaffirming the age-old truth. Threatening your daughter with a high powered weapon is wholesome family entertainment!
I recently stumbled up on a wildly popular Tumblr snippet from Marxisforbros (a blog that I was unaware of prior to now)… Here’s a quote:
ANON ASKS: “if you had a daughter and she was going to go out to a party with guys drinking would you let her go out looking like a slut?”
MARXISFORBROS: “If the next generation has sons that are as repulsed by rape as they should be then we won’t need to worry about our daughter’s clothing. Hell, if we just make our generation shift the blame from the victim to the perpetrator and recognize rape as an act of violence rather than a natural hazard then we won’t even notice clothing. In fact the only way that I’ll need to worry about my daughter’s clothing is if society stays this F****d. I’d probably end up doing something incredibly violent to somebody if anything ever happened to one of my loved ones and the system failed them.
So the question becomes; if you had a son and he was going to a party with girls drinking, would you let him go knowing that one of them could be my daughter and that if he ever touched her without her consent I’d kill you?
You focus on raising a son that you can confidently sent to a party even if you think that you would die if he inappropriately touches a woman and I’ll focus on raising a daughter full stop.”
Oh there are so many things I want to say! I can’t even tell you how badly I want to condone physical violence towards perverted perpetrators. I agree with so much this guy has to say that it’s hard to point out the things I disagree with, but I must. At least, I feel that I must.
I father an 8 year old girl. She is my every thing, and I truly mean every - thing. If someone hurt her in any way, the urge to annihilate that individual and ruin any record of their existence would be so impossible to fight that I could totally understand where this guy is coming from.
With that being said, I also have an obligation to teach my daughter important life lessons. Every girl old enough to notice the feelings of attraction begins a journey in a constant effort to feel captivating, attractive, and pursued. It’s my job, as a father to teach her how to identify these urges and how to meet these emotional and physical needs in ways that won’t put her in compromising situations. I still believe a woman can be captivating without sacrificing her modesty. She can refuse to compromise on standards and still she can have men jumping out of buildings to pursue her. There’s no reason I can’t prepare her for this kind of life.
I recognize this entire discussion sounds all too much like “if you’re dressing slutty, you’re kind of asking for it.” And believe me when I say that isn’t my intention whatsoever. I believe a young woman - or any woman for that matter - should have every right to attract sexual attention without society and the entire male population equating that with “she really wants to put out.” That just isn’t the truth. Like I said before, (real) women like to tease because that’s their greatest weapon in a battle over attraction. Remember, she’s constantly initiating the pursuit. Women want a man to put energy into the challenge of capturing their treasure. Sometimes, you have to present the treasure as being worth the adventure. That doesn’t means she’s handing out free candy to the neighborhood boys.
So yes, I agree that the parents out there who have to wrangle and fight with all the obstacles that come with raising a boy should do so in a way that challenges them to recognize rape should be punishable by death. As ranking crimes is concerned, it (rape) should be treated as attempted murder in every instance. The victims of rape should be allowed, by law, to pursue vindication against their assailant however they seem fit without consequence.
There we have it. Daddies who father girls: understand the female desires enough to prepare your little girl for the real world. Daddies who father boys: teach your sons to cherish women in such a way that even a woman’s presence will demand their utmost respect.
